This checkered short box has a purple heart lid paired with a Sapele box. The Purple Heart & Sapele combination is a smooth running call that really excels at mid-range calling. The call will give you plenty of volume when you need it but tones down quickly for softer yelps and purrs.

I don't know what this particular call sounds like because I purchased it off the website for a very good friend. What I can tell you is that I didn't start killing turkeys regularly until I switched to David Halloran calls!

This is my third box I’ve purchased from David and just like the other two is absolutely beautiful. The sound is exactly what he says it is, a little softer calling box. Perfect for closing the deal or when you don’t need to be too loud on the call. My favorite is still the Purple Heart and Cedar combination. To my ears it’s the absolute best I’ve ever heard come from a box.
This call is amazing. Its the one that brings in the old wise gobblers hot and fast. I usually use a pot call but when the gobblers are hung up and/or drifting away this is the call that seals the deal!
